The inter-university research center CCVS is a unique partnership between the Universities of Brussels, Ghent and Leuven. With the support from various partners CCVS developed a range of different activities to promote the psychosocial well-being of children and young people living in vulnerable situations in southern countries.
This is mainly effected through the execution of practice-oriented research. Next to research, CCVS founded two practice centres in Lira, Northern Uganda and Bunia, Eastern Congo. In these centres, psychological support is provided to war-affected children, youngsters and their family.
With her foundation Chido Govera wants to help orphans to step out of their victim roles by assisting them in becoming strong and motivating them to take their lives in their own hands. To do this the foundation educates the children so they learn how to create healthy communities where children can thrive in peace, freedom and happiness. Important values as a decent education, a good health and natural ecosystem play a central role in this.
